Laura Kunin

Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher

Laura’s yoga journey began in college in the 1990s when she took her first yoga class, igniting a love for yoga.  In the late 1990s, she went to India and studied yoga in Varanasi.  Laura continued to take yoga classes and began teaching yoga in Chicago in 2002.  It was in Chicago that she took her first Iyengar classes with Patrina Dobish.  These classes in Patrina’s home studio developed a love for the Iyengar system.

Moving to LA in 2005, Laura continued her Iyengar Yoga practice and studies with senior teachers. She graduated from the 3 year Iyengar Yoga teacher training in 2015 and received her Iyengar Yoga certification in 2016.  In 2017, Laura traveled to Pune, India to study with Prashant Iyengar.

She has studied with Abhijata Iyengar in 2016 and 2019 at the IYNAUS conventions as well as over zoom during the pandemic.  Laura has assisted in the therapeutic classes at the Iyengar Institute with Marla Apt.  Addressing students injuries and ailments is a concern she takes very seriously.  While not always having the answers, she considers therapeutic yoga a lifelong study.  In the past year has taken therapeutic workshops with subjects ranging from Multiple Sclerosis to Menopause.

Therapeutic Yoga is a lifelong study.
