The Aquarian Sadhana is practiced by Kundalini Yoga communities across the world. Doing sadhana in a group develops group consciousness. A group sadhana practice amplifies the impact of the meditation. Yogi Bhajan said that group meditation not only adds to individual effort, but multiplies it.

Sadhana can be done as a group or individually. The ideal is to join in a group practice AND cultivate your individual practice as well. Yogi Bhajan gave us the Aquarian Sadhana in 1992 to take us through the transition into the Aquarian Age. This sadhana prepares our psyches to excel in the new environments and coming decades.

The Aquarian Sadhana attunes your gunas, your chakras, and your mind to the change of the Age. We will need intuition, stamina, both physical and mental, self-awareness, and a new depth of spiritual experience that can hold our identity in the face of global changes, relentless competition, information overload, and ecological and environmental challenges.

The pelvic floor or pelvic diaphragm plays a major role in the human body. This group of muscles at the base of the pelvis aid in digestion and reproduction as well as supports the internal organs that rest above it. But there is a pivotal role that is lesser known; these muscles can help the body fight off diseases, reduce anxiety and increase energy.

In the first part of this two-part yoga workshop, Marla Apt will distill the teachings of BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar to reveal these important muscles of the pelvic diaphragm. She will use precise alignment cues and a specific sequence to show us which yoga asanas help stabilize and release these muscles that essentially support the entire body. And through a regular yoga practice, these asanas will help facilitate a healthy pelvic diaphragm that strengthens the abdominals and lower back, builds immunity, reduces incontinence and pelvic pains, and improves sexual performance, all the while cultivating a calmness throughout the body and mind.

The spiritual book club is a weekly discussion group in which we will explore spiritual books. It will be guided discussion led by Radka Holisova (MA Yoga Studies, Loyola Marymount University).
The next book we will discuss is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, a modern classic. The Four Agreements is written in a light, accessible style but resonates with a deep philosophical message. It provides a clear and simple set of principles that help us have better relationships with both the people in our lives and ourselves.
We will be discuss this book on six consecutive Thursdays from 1:15-2:30 p.m. at Lyfe Yoga starting on April 6, 2017.
